Stephen H. Sulmeyer, J.D., Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist, attorney and mediator who specializes in helping families, couples and individuals meet the challenges posed by divorce and separation. As a mediator he works with divorcing couples to help them find ways to part emotionally as well as physically and financially, in a way that is in accord with their highest ideals. As a psychotherapist, Dr. Sulmeyer attempts to help contextualize the divorce within the trajectory of the client'€s overall growth and development, while simultaneously offering empathy, warmth and support. Other areas of his practice include family adjustment, co-parenting counseling, child custody, marriage/relationship counseling, and individual work ranging from depression and anxiety to existential and spiritual issues.
Dr. Sulmeyer received his undergraduate and law degrees from Stanford, and his doctorate in psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, where he was on the adjunct faculty in 2002 and 2003.
