Divorce is frequently an incredibly stressful and uncertain time, during which people are required to make some of the most critical financial decisions of their lives. These decisions can seem overwhelming during this transition but when viewed through a positive lens, this period of transition provides an opportunity to budget and plan for a new life going forward. It is critical to review and analyze all assets, debts, incomes and expenses so that decisions can be made with all relevant information at hand. Educating clients may also be helpful at this stage, especially when only one spouse has been in charge of the finances during the marriage or should more complicated assets such as deferred compensation plans or pension plans need evaluating. Understanding the interests of the clients, developing viable financial options then analyzing them for chances of success are also important steps, as this will allow for a more complete evaluation of the choices available. It is with this information that a more comprehensive plan can be constructed providing a roadmap for a new financial future.
Susannah comes to the field via direct experience, having successfully completed her own Collaborative Divorce in 2011. This, in concert with her professional experience and training, has enabled Susannah to embark on a career that focuses on supporting the Collaborative team in finding the best resolution possible.
